Design Consultation

At Glass Design & Build London, we initiate each venture with a design & specification consultation to discuss your personal requirements enabling us to craft a design that embodies your vision.

The Second Stage

Detailed Technical Surveys

The next stage in our process is to undertake our measured building survey allowing us to attain an accurate representation of your building layout and existing structure. Floor plans and elevations are essential in providing an accurate representation of the current building which details the building footprint, window frames, doors and roof detail, as well as decorative features.

Our measured building surveys are conducted using the latest Leica 3D Laser scanning equipment that precisely captures and measures the exact dimensions, shape, characteristics and intricacies which generates a highly accurate digital structural representation of the property – the DNA of the existing building.

As part of the project, if required, we can also undertake our Topographical Land Survey which maps the boundaries, building footprints of existing and neighbouring structures, drainage, trees, ground surface types and levels, plus many more features that vary from site to site to facilitate in our process in producing accurate designs and plans.

To fully determine the “make up” of the property we may need to undertake an exploratory survey to expose and uncover details of the existing structure eg. floor joists, lintels, foundations, steelwork and embedded utility services hidden from view.

Technical Drawings & Plans

Utilising the information attained from our surveys and in conjunction with the initial project designs, we formulate and produced our highly detailed technical construction drawings including structural design and engineering plans.

These drawings provide detailed dimensional and graphical information that is used to enable the construction of the project and also for building regulations and planning submission should this be required.
